Builder: Swinerton Architect: Mithun Judges Statement: This mixed-use apartment development impressed all of the 2007 Gold Nugget judges. The project was pioneering for the affluent city of Mercer Island, WA. What was once a series of strip malls, is now a pedestrian friendly town center with shops, restaurants, businesses and housing. The judges were impressed with the overall architecture, oversized windows for abundant natural light, integrated public art, five courtyards, and public transit stops to encourage transportation alternatives.
